Bridging Europe: Budapest-Brussels

Brussels Jazz Orchestra will be uniting its powers with guitarist Philip Catherine, trumpet player Bert Joris and singer David Linx for a programme compiled especially for the Bridging Europe festival in Budapest. The audience can expect a selection of compositions from BJO's album Meeting Colours (2005) - which also featured Catherine and Joris - and songs from several albums made together with Linx.

This two-part concert at the Béla Bartòk National Concert Hall in Budapest is part of Bridging Europe, the joint festival of Müpa Budapest and the Budapest Festival Orchestra. At the centre of each instalment over the years had been a country or group of countries with a rich and diverse culture and significant musical traditions. This year, the choice fell on Brussels.

There is a symbolic reason why the choice fell on the Belgian capital this year: Hungary is slated to take over the presidency of the Council of the European Union from Belgium this summer, so we are building a bridge between Budapest and Brussels at the September festival, offering several productions in both Budapest and Brussels that feature major artists from both cities joining forces.
